Daily Insight: It’s Time to Phone A Friend

Remember when you were a teenager laying on your bed. Legs up the wall. Surrounded by picture of famous cute boys you thought you had a chance with if y’all just met in person. There you were, twirling that telephone cord around your finger, talking with your bestie and sharing every good, bad and ugly thing that happened to you that day, week and year. That bestie relationship lasted for a good long while, at least through your twenties. Hopefully into your thirties. If you’re lucky into your forties. But for most of us somewhere along the line family took over (who doesn’t love family? Until you don’t!). Appearances started to matter. Secrets and shame started to take hold of you like a toddler on a rollercoaster. Suddenly, everything you’re going through and feeling is bottled in your body. Trust me, it don’t smell like perfume. That bestie you still have either only knows the good stuff, (or the slightly less embarrassing stuff), or she’s a distant memory. Regardless, like the old show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” used to offer, “Would you like to phone a friend?”

Now if you don’t have a bestie any longer or one you’ve censored the flow of your information to…there is still someone you can call. In fact, you can talk to her all the time if you want. Let me introduce you all.

What you don’t know is this future composed happy you has been here all you time. Smoke’in hot. Waiting to have a conversation with present you. Here’s the issue, she won’t pick up scared, chaotic and confused rings (let’s face it, you can’t even dial in that state). She’s real particular like that. She only responds to a peaceful tone. She has a lot of wisdom to share if you let her. So, pick up the proverbial phone and get some support and wisdom.
